The Balvenie American Bourbon Barrel 14 Year Old is a single-cask Speyside single malt from A Collection of Curious Casks, bottled at 47.8% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill filtered.
The whisky spent 14 years in a first-fill American bourbon barrel. The cask was originally set aside to become a 12-year-old single barrel, and the spirit was distilled just after Peat Week, which left a faint trace of smoke.
Tasting notes mention candied orange peel, roasted malt, vanilla, toffee and honey on the nose. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with caramel, tropical fruit and gentle spice. The finish is long, with delicate peat smoke, wood, citrus and vanilla.
