A 9 year old single malt from The Balvenie in Banffshire, drawn from a single cask and bottled at cask strength of 57.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is Chapter 1 of the DCS Compendium.
The nose is bright with orange peel, lemon zest and lime, alongside icing sugar, toffee, butterscotch, floral honey, green apple and marzipan over a clean malt and barley base. The palate is lively and slightly peppery, with a sweetness like honey pancakes, ginger and subtle oak.
The finish is short to medium and warm, leaving orchard fruit, light wood and a little oak spice.
