The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Years Old is a single malt whisky, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from whisky that has spent at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, ex-bourbon barrels and American oak hogsheads. It then spends a further nine months in ex-Oloroso sherry casks made from Spanish oak.
The bottling is overseen by malt master David Stewart MBE, who received his MBE in 2016 after a 55-year career. The year 2018 marked 25 years of DoubleWood 12.
