A 16 year old Speyside single malt from Balvenie, part of the French Oak range. After maturing in American oak it is finished in casks that held Pineau des Charentes, a French wine made from unfermented grape must with cognac eau de vie added before ageing. It is bottled at 47.6% ABV.
The nose is lightly floral, with lotus and geranium blossom, fresh meadow grass and apple peel. Zesty lemon peel and grapefruit open the palate, followed by the gentle sweetness of glazed fruit and the bite of ginger root. The finish is refreshingly crisp.
