The Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old is a single malt made by marrying aged Balvenie whiskies and transferring them to port pipes that previously held fine port. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE samples it regularly, so that the casks add the right amount of character while the original qualities of the malt are kept. It was first released in 1996.
The nose has ripe raisin and fruit with a nutty dryness. The palate is creamy and silky, with fruit, honey and spice. The finish is long, gentle and nutty.
