The Balvenie – PortWood 21 Year Old (47.6%)

The Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old is a single malt whisky that has been transferred into port pipes, casks that previously held fine port wines. The malt is sampled regularly during this time so the casks add the right amount of character while keeping the original Balvenie profile. It was first released in 1996. It is non chill-filtered and bottled at 47.6% abv. The nose is perfumed, with fruity ripe raisin and a nutty dryness. The palate is creamy and silky, with fruit, honey and spice. The finish is long, gentle and nutty.
