The Balvenie Rare Marriages 40 Year Old is a single malt from the Balvenie distillery in Dufftown, Speyside, bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE selected and married the casks.
Every component spent at least 40 years in traditional American oak and European oak sherry butts before the marriage. It comes in a polished wooden case.
The nose is antique oak, dark honey and dried fig over polished leather and orange oil. The palate brings sherry-soaked raisins, walnut and cinnamon, and the long finish carries honey, oak spice and gentle smoke.
