The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill 12 Year Old is a single malt drawn from an individual first fill ex-bourbon cask, so each bottle reflects the character of its own barrel. The first fill oak brings fresh oak character and added vanilla sweetness. It is bottled at a higher strength than the standard Balvenie expressions.
The nose is sweet honey and vanilla with toasted oak and light citrus. The palate is creamy malt with caramel, vanilla, spice and gentle oak, and the finish is medium to long, with lingering sweetness, soft spice and oak warmth.
