A 12 year old single malt from The Balvenie, made with a fruitier, sweeter style in mind. Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie brought virgin oak barrels over from Kentucky, and these were deep toasted at The Balvenie Cooperage before being filled with Balvenie that had aged in ex-bourbon barrels.
The whisky is described as having candied fruit, coconut and delicate vanilla character.
On the nose it is malty, with sweet fudge, citrus and oak vanilla, then ginger and cinnamon spice. The palate brings candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch and blossom honey, with brown sugar and oak spices at the end. The finish is rich and malty, with oak vanilla and light spice.
