The Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt and the first release in the distillery's Stories series, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
Balvenie aged in ex-bourbon casks is filled into virgin oak casks brought over from Kentucky, which are toasted twice beforehand. The aim was a fruitier, sweeter Balvenie.
The nose is rich malt with sweet fudge, moving to vanilla, citrus and gentle spices such as ginger and cinnamon. The palate brings candied lemon and orange peel, buttery cake, vanilla toffee and melted brown sugar, ending with a pleasant spice.
