The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 8 is a cask-strength Speyside single malt, bottled at 52.2% in a 75cl bottle. It is the eighth and final batch of the Tun 1509 series, which followed Tun 1401, and was released in October 2021 without an age statement. Malt Master David Stewart chose 18 casks: six second-fill sherry butts, five refill puncheons, four ex-bourbon barrels and three first-fill sherry butts. They were married for three months in Tun 1509, the large oak tun in Warehouse 24, and the whisky was bottled without dilution. The nose is typically described as lemon tarts, marmalade, maple syrup, marzipan and honey, with toffee, ginger and oak. The palate brings spiced orange marmalade, buttery pastry, vanilla and crystallised ginger, followed by a long finish with a hint of charcoal and baking spices.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
