This is a 14 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 48.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is the second release in the distillery's Stories series.
The idea came from distillery manager Ian Miller, who wanted to try the classic Balvenie character with a little peat after a visit to Islay. Once a year the distillery works with peated Speyside malt, which adds a gentle layer of smoke to the familiar house style. The whisky was matured in bourbon casks.
The nose is sweet and mild with soft peat, light floral notes, honey and a hint of butter cake. On the palate it is soft and round, with peat that stays in balance alongside citrus, vanilla and floral honey.
