The Cairn Distillery CRN57 70 Year Old is a blended malt Scotch whisky released by Gordon & MacPhail for the Cairn Distillery in Speyside. The distillery stands on the 57th parallel north in Cairngorms National Park, and the CRN57 range draws on historic Gordon & MacPhail stock.
This bottling spent seven decades in oak casks, and it shows sherry influence, polished wood and beeswax.
The nose offers rich sherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, beeswax polish, dried fruits and candied orange peel. The palate is smooth and sweet, with dried tobacco leaf, citrus zest, charred oak, stewed apples, walnuts and cracked black pepper. The finish is long and nutty, with oak tannins, dark fruit and roasted coffee beans.
