This is The Dalmore Aged 40 Years, the 2024 release, bottled at 42% ABV. It began in American oak Bourbon barrels and was then moved to Port Colheita pipes from Graham's Port.
The whisky then met stocks finished in 30 year old Oloroso sherry casks from Gonzalez Byass, exclusive to the distillery. After a final spell in Port Colheita, it was brought back together in refill Bourbon barrels.
The nose offers cherries, plums, sultanas, toffee apple and vanilla pod. On the palate come orange peel, chocolate truffles, Old English marmalade and crushed walnuts, and the finish brings Black Forest fruits and poached pear with caramel and dark chocolate.
