The Dalmore 40 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky, limited to 58 bottles in the USA.
It was first matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks, then moved into 30-year-old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts. A final finish in first-fill bourbon barrels followed.
The nose offers orange marmalade, dates and hints of rich coffee. On the palate come molasses, maple syrup and honey, leading to cooked apple and a little citrus, such as blood orange.
