The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve is a Highland single malt from The Dalmore Distillery at Alness, Scotland, part of the Principal Collection. It is bottled at 46.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The malt is matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. About half is then finished in aged tawny port pipes from W & J Graham's of Portugal, and the two parts are remarried before bottling.
Red berries, Seville oranges, plums and sticky toffee pudding come through on the nose. The palate offers nectarines, creamy caramel, roasted chestnuts and Java coffee, and the finish brings rich plums, sultanas, blood oranges and macerated cherries.
