The Feathery Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (75cl, 40%)

The Feathery is a blended malt Scotch whisky made entirely from single malts matured entirely in sherry casks, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was created by the Spencerfield Spirit Company, now part of Ian Macleod Distillers, and takes its name from the feather-stuffed leather golf balls used before rubber ones. The bottler describes the malts as Highland, and the whisky is deep golden brown in the glass. The nose is dry and nutty, with sweet vanilla cream and a hint of ginger. The palate brings warm oak, sherry-soaked sultanas, orange segments and raisins, with a full mouthfeel, and the finish is long, with spiced orange, chocolate and a touch of butterscotch.
