The Fiddichside is a 31-year-old blended malt from Murray McDavid, bottled at 47.5% in an outturn of 341 bottles. It brings together whisky from two neighbouring distilleries, both matured in bourbon hogsheads. One then spent a further six months in a PX sherry cask, the other two years in an oloroso sherry cask.
The bottling honours the late Joe Brandie of The Fiddichside Inn.
Baked apple, cinnamon latte and toffee lead the nose. The palate brings waxy fruits, creamy vanilla and sweet oak, and the finish is complex, with sweet malt and soft spice.
