The Gladstone Axe American Oak is a blended malt Scotch whisky, assembled from single malts only with no grain spirit. The malts were matured in American oak, giving a character led by vanilla, caramel and coconut.
The brand takes its name from William Ewart Gladstone, four-time UK Prime Minister and son of a Scottish whisky merchant. The axe refers to his tree-felling hobby, and the name reflects his dual identity as statesman and heir to a whisky trading family.
