The Black Axe is a blended malt from The Gladstone Axe, made from a selection of malt whiskies from 14 Highland and Islay distilleries. It is made from 100% malted barley and aged in oak barrels.
A good share of Islay malt brings smoke and spice, and the whisky is described as spicy and peaty. The marriage of the different malts is said to give a flavour profile for Scotch drinkers both new and experienced.
