This is Batch 9 of the GlenAllachie 10-year-old cask strength, a Speyside single malt bottled at its natural strength of 58.1%.
It marries spirit from Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks, Rioja barriques and medium charred, medium toasted American virgin oak barrels. The colour is an intense mahogany.
The nose is ripe red berries, hazelnuts and heather honey. On the palate there is dark chocolate, honeycomb and caramelised demerara sugar, with treacle, mocha and ginger. Plum and toffee come through on the finish.
