This is a 9 year old Speyside single malt from The GlenAllachie, from the 2012 vintage and part of its Wine Cask Series. Master Blender Billy Walker matured the spirit first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished it in European wine barriques. Four wine cask finishes are blended into one, using casks from Bordeaux, Languedoc and Valpolicella.
It is bottled at 48% ABV, with no chill filtration and no added colour.
The nose is orange blossom, espresso and maraschino cherries, with honeysuckle. The palate brings dark chocolate, redcurrants and burnt coffee beans, and the finish has ginger and liquorice.
