The Glenlivet 12 Year Old is a Scottish single malt from Speyside, in a one-litre bottle.
The distillery dates from 1824 and is now the biggest single malt distillery in Scotland. Fermentation takes place in 16 wooden washbacks and 16 more made of stainless steel, and the stillhouse has fourteen pairs of pot stills. Pernod Ricard took ownership from Seagram's in 2001, as part of the purchase of Chivas Brothers.
A vanilla sweetness defines the style of this twelve-year-old, which many regard as the quintessential Highland single malt.
