Glenlivet was founded in 1824 and was bought by Pernod Ricard from Seagram in 2001, as part of the deal for Chivas Brothers. It is described as the largest single malt distillery in Scotland, with 16 wooden washbacks and another 16 made of stainless steel, and fourteen pairs of pot stills.
