The Glenlivet – 15 Year Old

The Glenlivet 15 Year Old is a single malt aged for 15 years, in which part of the spirit is matured in French oak casks. The distillery was among the first to use French oak for whisky. The Limousin oak is cut in the Dordogne region of France, where it is often used to mature cognac. Its low density lets the whisky sink deep into the wood, and the time in cask is controlled so the wood does not overpower the spirit. The aim is a rich, exotic character with a pleasing spiciness.
