The Glenrothes 51 Year Old, called The 51, is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 44.2% ABV. It is vatted from two oak casks and limited to 100 bottles.
One cask is highly aromatic and perfumed, the other bolder and richer. The bottle is held in a column that is broken to reach it. The pieces can be returned to The Glenrothes, where an artist from their kintsugi workshops reassembles them as a vase for a real orchid.
The nose offers watermelon, peach stones, fresh almonds, rose oil, bergamot and black tea. The palate brings ripe melon, rose water, Earl Grey and a hint of antique oak. The finish is fragrant, with a soft, velvety sweetness.
