The Glenrothes – Whisky Maker's Cut (70cl, 48.8%)

This is a Speyside single malt from The Glenrothes, part of the Soleo Collection that the distillery launched in 2019. The range is matured in sherry casks. The Whisky Maker's Cut was put together by the distillery's own Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, from hand-picked first-fill sherry casks. It is bottled at his preferred strength of 48.8% and has natural colour. The nose is fresh oak and resin. On the palate there is spice, creamy vanilla and orange peel, and the finish brings orange again with a touch of nutmeg.
