This is the 12 year old single malt from The Glenturret, a distillery founded in 1763 near Crieff in Perthshire. It was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels.
It is bottled at 46% ABV, which the distillery says keeps more of the character from the casks and leaves the whisky non-chill filtered.
The nose is toasted barley, hazelnuts, sweet raisins, vanilla cream and a hint of dried apple. On the palate there is ginger, cinnamon, spiced apple crumble and orange zest over warming grain. The finish is long and creamy, with lingering spice and toasted oak.
