The Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt is a limited edition created for the 100th anniversary of Suntory Whisky. It is made from selected malt whiskies, each aged for at least 18 years in various casks.
The blenders at Hakushu Distillery work with peat and soften the palate with local mountain water filtered through ancient granite. The smoke is gentle rather than strong, never dominant, in a Japanese style.
It opens with a spicy, peppery welcome and a slow wave of smoke that deepens to reveal herbaceous notes and green fruity undertones.
