The Hearach is described as the first legal whisky distilled on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. This single malt was matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks, and comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV.
It is lightly peated, non-chill filtered and of natural colour, and was distilled in copper pot stills.
The nose has light peat smoke, honey, brine, sea salt, orange peel and toasted oak. On the palate come silky malt, orchard fruits, vanilla cream, raisin and nutmeg, with peat warmth. The finish is long and slightly smoky, with gentle salinity and sherry sweetness.
