The Islay 16 Year Old is a single cask Islay single malt from Master of Malt and the design agency Studio Minerva, bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled and matured on Islay, reduced slowly over two weeks, and is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The series is a run of single cask bottlings: when one cask is finished, another follows under the same name, age and strength. The 16 year old takes its design inspiration from Islay's volcanic basalt. The nose is juicy fruit and sweet smoke with pickled peaches. The palate is fruity and sweet, with soft mango and dry wood smoke. The finish holds coal fire and melon, with a mineral note recalling sun-warmed granite.
