The Lost Distillery Company Classic Selection Gerston (75cl, 43%)

Classic Selection Gerston is a blended malt from The Lost Distillery Company, bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle. It recreates the whisky once made at Gerston, a small farmhouse distillery at Halkirk in Caithness that stopped production in the 1870s and was demolished in 1882. The company has no old stock to draw on. Its whisky makers blend single malts from different distilleries to match researched details of the original, and the result is non-chill-filtered with no added colour. The nose brings apple and pear with salt, ash and iodine. Pepper, orange and dark chocolate follow on the palate, and the medium-long finish carries fruit, milk chocolate and liquorice.
