The Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak High Proof is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 55% (110 proof) in a 750ml bottle, at natural colour.
It has spent twelve years in first-fill European oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry from Jerez, with no ex-bourbon casks in the mix.
The nose is dates and cherry compote with baked figs, dark chocolate and raisin bread. The palate offers dark chocolate and sultana, then espresso, cinnamon and treacle with a gingery warmth. The finish is long and warming, with cinnamon and cocoa.
