This is the 1984 vintage of The Macallan 15 Year Old, an official distillery bottling from Speyside at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It matured exclusively in sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, and was bottled in the late 1990s.
The tube carries the Easter Elchies house illustration, originally painted by Sara Middleton. The lid shows some rust and the outer box has minor creasing.
In the tasting notes, the nose is dried fruit, including raisins, sultanas and dark figs, with dark chocolate, toffee, sherry wood and orange peel. The palate is creamy and smooth, sweet with sherry, oak, toffee, fig and raisin. The finish is long, with sherry, dark oak, spice and caramel.
