The Macallan 15 Years Double Cask is a Speyside single malt from the Macallan distillery, near Easter Elchies House in Craigellachie. It is matured in a combination of American oak and European oak casks, both previously holding oloroso sherry.
The American oak contributes delicate vanilla, citrus and caramel, while the European oak adds the spiciness associated with Macallan.
The nose is soft, with dried fruit and vanilla. The palate is spiced, with honey, raisins, chocolate and orange peel. The finish is long and lingering, with ginger and caramel.
