The Macallan 72 Year Old is a Speyside single malt bottled at 42% ABV in a 70cl Lalique crystal decanter. This is The Genesis Decanter, a limited edition made with Lalique.
The decanter sits in a hinged display box whose design draws on The Macallan's new headquarters at Easter Elchies, designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. The panels unfold to reveal the crystal inside.
The nose is delicate, with light peat, aged oak smoke, lemon, green apple, vanilla pod and raisins. The palate adds gentle wood spice and a viscous citrus note. The finish is medium and fruity.
