The Macallan A Night on Earth: The First Light is a limited edition Speyside single malt, bottled at 43%. It is the fourth release in the annual A Night on Earth series, which looks at how different cultures mark the turn of the year. This edition marks the first light of the new year arriving in New Zealand on 1 January.
It was matured in sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, with a small share of American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
The nose has burnt icing sugar, vanilla, red berries and Manuka honey. The palate brings caramel, baking spices, toasted marshmallow, stone fruit and coconut, and the finish is sweet and fruity with toasted oak.
