The Macallan Classic Cut 2023 is a high-strength Speyside single malt, bottled at 50.3% ABV. It was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon American oak casks and sherry-seasoned European oak casks.
At full strength the pear character stands out. Adding a splash of water brings the strength down to 40% and lets almond biscotti come forward. The colour is golden barley.
The nose offers pears and elderflower with light almond and rich vanilla pod. The palate is sweet and creamy, with juicy pears and lemon zest. The finish is medium.
