The Macallan Concept No. 1 is the first release in its series, a single malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It celebrates visionaries and takes its inspiration from surreal art, using innovative production techniques.
The whiskies were matured first in sherry-seasoned oak casks and then for an equal time in ex-bourbon casks. The colour is golden amber.
The nose is sweet butterscotch and toffee with almond, ginger and cinnamon, and hints of dried fruit, citrus and green banana. The palate has sweet orange and lemon with soft oak spice, fresh fruit and ginger. The finish is medium sweet and dry, with oak, citrus and ginger lingering.
