The Macallan – Double Cask 12 Year Old (75cl, 43%)

The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. It was matured for a minimum of twelve years in sherry-seasoned American oak and European oak, both seasoned with Oloroso sherry in Jerez, then married at The Macallan Estate in Speyside, with the American oak given the lead. The colour is entirely natural. Double Cask arrived in 2016 as the first Macallan core expression to make American-oak sherry casks its focus. The producer describes a nose of fudge, candied orange and lemon, vanilla and soft spice. On the palate come milk-chocolate raisins and creamy toffee with orange peel and gentle spice, followed by a medium finish of sweet oak.
