The Macallan Edition No. 4 is a Speyside single malt released in July 2018 to mark the opening of the distillery's new building. It is bottled at 48.4% in a 750ml bottle.
Master Distiller Nick Savage married seven types of sherry-seasoned oak cask, European and American, including refill and first-fill butts, hogsheads and puncheons. The packaging takes its cue from the new distillery's architecture, with each cask type standing for a structural element, from European oak Tevasa casks as the foundation to American oak Vasyma casks for balance.
The nose is nutmeg, floral honey and orange zest. The palate is honey and toffee with citrus, clove, vanilla and Seville marmalade, and the finish is wood spice with a strong pepper kick.
