The Macallan Fine Oak 15 Year Old is a Speyside single malt, aged for a minimum of 15 years and bottled at 43%. It was launched in 2004 and renamed Triple Cask Matured in 2018.
Its character comes from three kinds of cask: Spanish oak seasoned with sherry, American oak seasoned with sherry and American oak seasoned with bourbon. The bourbon-seasoned oak pulls the whisky towards vanilla, citrus and floral notes.
The nose is vanilla, citrus and dried fruit with a hint of rose and cinnamon. The palate is smooth, with vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, rich chocolate, orange and raisin, and the long finish lingers on chocolate, orange and dried fruits.
