The Macallan Fine Oak 17 Year Old is a single malt from The Macallan's Easter Elchies estate in Craigellachie, bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle. It was introduced for the US market in 2006.
Fine Oak, launched in 2004, was the distillery's first move away from sherry casks alone. This 17 year old is matured in a triple cask combination: European oak seasoned with sherry, American oak seasoned with sherry, and American oak seasoned with bourbon.
The nose is heady, exotic and floral, with a hint of jasmine, tropical fruit and peat. The palate is soft and rich, with citrus, spice and wood smoke, and the finish lingers with a hint of orange zest.
