This is a Speyside single malt without an age statement, bottled at 43.9% in a 75cl bottle. It is the fifth release in The Macallan's Harmony Collection, made in collaboration with the tea specialist JING.
It takes its inspiration from Phoenix Honey Orchid, an oolong tea grown on Phoenix Mountain in Guangdong, China. The whisky was matured mostly in sherry-seasoned American oak, with European oak and ex-bourbon casks alongside, giving a lighter and more aromatic Macallan than the house's traditional European-oak style.
The nose is peach and apricot with floral honey. On the palate come peaches in syrup and warm citrus, ending in a delicate leafy dryness.
