This is the fifth release in The Macallan Harmony Collection, a Speyside single malt made in collaboration with JING Tea and bottled at 43.9% ABV. It takes its cue from Phoenix Honey Orchid, a single-garden oolong tea from Phoenix Mountain in Guangdong.
The whisky matured in European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry, with a smaller share of ex-bourbon casks. Waste tea leaves went into the box.
Peach, apricot, floral honey and tropical fruit mark the nose, with a hint of tea leaf. The palate brings creamy toffee, honeyed fruit and a touch of citrus peel. The finish is soft and honeyed, with a slight tea-leaf dryness.
