The Macallan 'M Black' is a Speyside single malt from The Macallan's M Collection, released in 2018 at 44.8% ABV with no age statement. It was matured in sherry-seasoned oak, with peated spirit from rare 'black-ended' casks chosen by the Whisky Mastery Team.
It comes in a black-crystal decanter made by Lalique, with creative direction by Fabien Baron. The decanter has six angular facets, and 850 were made for this release, each individually numbered.
The nose combines rich cherry chocolate, fresh citrus, dried fruit and salted caramel, with whispers of peat smoke. The palate brings green apples, citrus and dried fruit, with smoke that rises without dominating. The finish is long and smoky.
