This is Batch #1 of The Macallan Rare Cask, the first release in the annual series, which came out in 2019. It is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV.
The whisky was drawn from a combination of European and American oak sherry seasoned casks, in a volume equal to 50 European sherry seasoned oak butts.
The palate is piquant, with vanilla and chocolate and the character of the wood evident from the start. The finish is long, warm and soothing.
