The Macallan Rare Cask 2022 Release is the annual edition of this Speyside single malt, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. The Whisky Mastery Team hand-selected the casks for their deep ruby mahogany colour, intense sweet raisin note and velvety complexity.
The whisky was matured in American and European ex-sherry oak, with a high proportion of first-fill casks. Its colour is entirely natural, with no added caramel.
The nose combines vanilla and raisin with fresh apple, citrus and baking spices. Raisin leads the palate, followed by vanilla, dark chocolate and citrus zest, and the finish is long, rich and velvety.
