The Macallan – Rare Cask 2023 (75cl, 43%)

The Macallan Rare Cask 2023 is the 2023 edition of the distillery's annual Rare Cask release, a single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made only from sherry seasoned oak casks hand-selected by the Whisky Mastery Team for their sweet raisin character and depth of colour. The colour is natural, a ruby mahogany with nothing added. This edition was created in collaboration with Charlie Burchill of Simple Minds, exploring the parallels between composing music and composing whisky. Soft vanilla and rich raisin open the nose, followed by fresh apple, lemon and orange. The palate begins with intense sweet raisin, then vanilla and dark chocolate with light citrus zest. The finish is long, rich and velvety.
