This is The Macallan Sherry Oak 30 Years Old, a single malt from the 2023 release, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It matured for thirty years in carefully chosen sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, and takes its deep mahogany colour naturally from them.
The nose offers figs, dates, caramelised pineapple and chocolate orange. On the palate come fruit cake and prunes with ginger, cinnamon and a touch of orange essence, leading to lightly toasted oak. The finish is long and full, with oak, spice and orange.
